Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Network Engineer in the service industry, based in Houston, Texas. The role involves improving and designing connectivity systems, testing and evaluating existing communication systems, implementing new processes, and providing training to other team members. You will also be responsible for resolving issues according to standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
Design and improve connectivity systems, considering bandwidth and infrastructure requirements, security, and potential network expansion.
Carry out testing and evaluation of existing communication systems, rectifying issues and creating plans to improve the efficiency of existing infrastructure and systems.
Implement new processes and assess emergent technology.
Analyze current infrastructure and recommend improvements or provide a roadmap for changes.
Review requirements such as bandwidth and implement the new infrastructure in collaboration with stakeholders.
Maintain and continuously improve documentation and procedures related to the design of communication infrastructure and technology.
Provide appropriate training to other team members and coach personnel on new technology and its uses.
Collaborate with architects and IT team members on project goals.
Resolve issues according to standard operating procedures.
Utilize skills in Cisco Hardware, Cisco Firewall, Cisco Networking, Telecom, and Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT).
Requirements
Demonstrated expertise in Cisco Hardware, Cisco Firewall, and Cisco Networking
Proven experience in the Telecom industry
Proficiency in Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) technology
Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work towards deadlines
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices
Deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection
Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization
A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Dependable and flexible when necessary
Network security experience
LAN and WAN experience.
